indigenous peoples day

For Indigenous Peoples Day, our senior class wanted to do something special. It is rare that you see much or any acknowledgment to the Indigenous Peoples other than a clip art Instagram post. We wanted to do something different. We did not call this a protest, we called it a reflection. ISU graciously gave us space to make this happen. Our class was split into groups, each getting assigned a tribe. One side of our sign gave a fact about that tribe, along with their tribe logo. The other side was all ours. We all focused on a quote and were able to design it as we see fit. I chose to focus on the land specifically, making a simple yet straight-to-the-point sign that calls the audience to reflect on the land they are currently standing on. This installation was the first of many, and we hope it builds throughout the years.
